Homicide Investigation in the North Tryon Division

On Sunday, January 15, 2023, at approximately 9:37 p.m., North Tryon Division officers responded to a discharge of a firearm call for service in the 6200 block of Barrington Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim in life-threatening condition suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medic transported the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The investigation revealed several dwellings and vehicles were shot into but no other victims were struck.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD's Operations Command, the Charlotte Fire Department, Medic, Victim Services, and the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team also assisted.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD's Public Affairs Office.
